A 37-story luxury hotel and residential tower coming to downtown Tampa is seeing buyer interest and has plans to break ground this summer.
Pendry hotels founder talks up the Tampa buzz, growing up in the hotel business and delivering a luxury residential component to his hotels.

Luxury hotelier Pendry Hotels & Resorts is building a 37-story luxury tower on the Hillsborough River with Miami-based developers Two Roads Development.
The hotel, expected to open sometime in 2024, will include 220 rooms, a luxury spa and a rooftop pool on a deck overlooking the Hillsborough River, along with fare like an upscale restaurant, a lobby bar and café. On the floors above the hotel will be 207 condos.
The condos will come with a dedicated residential staff and offer all the amenities available to hotel guests. Condo residents will have a private entrance, but once inside the building will have access to the hotel and its offerings, including room service. Prices for those units will start at $900,000, with penthouses in the $3 million to $4 million range.
First announced in November 2021, Pendry Tampa and the accompanying Pendry Residences Tampa are both expected to open in the centre of the lively Tampa Riverwalk in the second quarter of 2024. Pendry Hotels & Resorts, Montage International’s luxury hospitality brand, is working in partnership with Two Roads Development to create this 37-storey property.
Reid Boren has already attempted to develop the last remaining vacant parcel on downtown Tampa’s waterfront once — but he’s even more bullish on the project the second time around.
Boren is managing partner of Two Roads Development, which is behind the 37-story hotel-condo proposed at Ashley Drive and Brorein Street. Both the hotels and condos will bear the flag of up-and-coming hospitality company Pendry, which is based in San Diego.
When COVID-19 first appeared, and for many months after that, there was a fear among those in hospitality that global tourism would be crushed and it would take years to recover. Airlines would shut down. Airports would empty. Amusement parks would shutter. Rental cars would gather dust.
And that hotels would bear an unfair brunt of the pandemic.
